I saw this tip in a video forever ago and it has changed the way I apply lashes AND they stay on even better! 🙌🏻 I put a dab of eyelash glue on the back of my hand or on a stainless palette (if you are applying on yourself and not a client, you could just use the applicator inside of your lash glue tube), and use a disposable liner brush. Then I use it basically like eye liner on the lash line, but only where I intend to put the lashes. Don’t line past where you will be putting the lash! I then apply a light bit of lash to glue to the lash strip or singles, and let that get almost dry. You’ll know it’s ready when it’s almost clear/blue looking (if you’re using clear glue). I then apply the lash onto the eye where I put the “glue liner”. Afterwards I use tweezers to kind of clamp the false lash with the natural lash. And viola! Your lashes are on and ready to party as hard as you 💃🏼✨ This technique is my favorite because it’s like sticking two pieces of duct tape together VS putting duct tape on your hand. Bridal trial runs are crucial. They’re your opportunity to really get to know your bride, for your bride to get comfortable with you, and of course, to ensure you can create the look she desires. After doing makeup for over 100 brides, I’ve learned a few things to help make this day go smoothly. 1. Communication is vital. Talk to your bride, understand who she is. Does she normally wear makeup? Is she more glam or natural? Does she prefer certain color palettes? Has she worn false lashes before? When she responds, listen attentively. Be empathetic throughout your time with her. Learning who she is will tell you so much about the style of makeup she’d feel most comfortable in. 2. If she shows you a makeup look, don’t just recreate it without discussing the details first. Ask what she likes about it specifically. Is it the shimmer? The matte eye? The liner? The lashes? The lip color? As the artist, you may see things differently than she does. It always helps to fully grasp what she’s looking for exactly. 3. Be honest. If she wants something that you know won’t work well with her features, let her know gently. Explain why, and offer alternative ways to create something similar that would complement her. You’re not saying no, but rather guiding her with your expertise. If she’s set on something, do it for her so she can decide if it’s truly what she wants. Being honest allows you to create a custom look that will leave her feeling spectacular. 4. Take your time. The trial run is your bride’s chance to feel pampered, catered to, and truly heard. Don’t rush through it. Show her that you care about her looking her best on her wedding day just as much as she does. This attention to detail and care will be greatly appreciated. Remember, a successful bridal trial is about more than just applying makeup. It’s so crazy when you find the person made for you. When you realize “Oh sh%t, this is it.” Life before them is a series of trying to make puzzle pieces fit, that just don’t. Before Cory and I started our journey together, I believed in the fairy tales of love. But I truly didn’t believe that I would find someone that was the other half of me. I spent so much time in my early twenties trying so hard for things that never served me. For those, I am thankful though. We always fight for us, we always put in the work to understand each other’s perspective. I never knew I could feel so whole. • I only share this with full vulnerability, because for so long I was lost. I believed in love. I knew my worth. Yet I couldn’t figure out why the world felt so harsh. I was hard on myself. I never felt as though I needed someone, but it felt like I’d never meet anyone that truly valued, loved, uplifted me.
